Get a Library Card

Membership

Anyone who lives in our service area is eligible for a free Hazelton District Public Library membership. Our service area includes the communities of:

  • Witset (Moricetown)
  • Suskwa Valley
  • District of New Hazelton
  • Tse-Kya (Hagwilget)
  • Two Mile
  • Village of Hazelton
  • Gitanmaax
  • Sik-E-Dakh (Glen Vowell)
  • Anspayaxw (Kispiox Village)
  • Kispiox Valley
  • Gitsegukla
  • Gitwangak
  • Kitwanga
  • Gitanyow
  • Cedarvale

… and all points in between!

To get a library card, just bring in a piece of identification to the library, showing your name and your street and/or mailing address. Examples of acceptable identification include a driver’s license, a BC ID card, a BC Services card, a status card, a passport, or even a piece of recent mail addressed to you.

Parents/caregivers may request a family membership and sign out items for the whole family on their card.

Children of all ages are welcome to have their own cards. If a parent or caregiver wishes to get a library card for their child, they will need to provide the same identification as listed above. Parents or caregivers will be responsible for all items checked out on their child’s card.

Members of other BC libraries should ask us about a BC OneCard, which would give you borrowing privileges at Hazelton District Public Library.

Non-residents who aren’t eligible for a BC OneCard can purchase a temporary library card for $10.00, which is valid for 6 months.

Responsibilities

You are responsible for all the materials borrowed on your card and for any charges on items that are overdue, lost or damaged. (See Loan Periods and Fines for details).

Lost or stolen cards

If you lose your library card, you are responsible for any items checked out on your card.You must report it as lost immediately and we will block the card so that no one can use it. There may be a small charge to replace a lost card.

Change of address

It is important for us to have your current information. If you change your address or other personal information, contact the library and we’ll update your record.
